Brown University Progress Report – Alzheimer’s and Live Z-Score Training

The following report from Dr. Elena Festa of the Brown University Department of Psychology shows beneficial effects of neurofeedback on patients with early onset of dementia.  This was a randomized, controlled, sham-controlled study comparing 4-channel Live Z-Score PZOK feedback training (LZT) with a sham condition in 79 adults.   The experimental group improved in cognitive performance scores, while the sham group did not.  This showed the possible use of LZT to enhance the efficiency of cortical processing, and reduce or reverse cognitive decline in aging.

These results indicate that neurofeedback training can be effective in inducing changes in cortical processing associated with improvements in specific aspects of cognitive functioning.
