- Anodal tDCS, left DLPFC, vs fluoxetine 20 mg
- Sessions
- 10 tDCS sessions
Key findings
- tDCS matched fluoxetine at six weeks
- Faster early improvement with tDCS
Results from a sham-controlled tDCS trial in major depression were compared with an open-label group of similar patients given fluoxetine 20 mg a day. After six weeks, tDCS and fluoxetine reduced depression by similar amounts, but tDCS worked faster: a 43% reduction after two weeks against 15% for fluoxetine.
