Population
Children
Protocol
SMR (12–15 Hz) or beta (16–20 Hz) up; theta and EMG inhibited
Sessions
Twice a week for 10–27 months

Key findings

  • EEG changed as trained in all six
  • Better grades or test scores in all six
  • None on medication afterwards

Six children with attention deficit disorder and learning problems trained SMR or beta upward, with theta and muscle activity inhibited, alongside academic work, twice a week for 10 to 27 months. All increased the trained rhythm and reduced slow activity, all improved in grades or achievement tests, and none needed medication for hyperactivity afterwards.
