This policy explains what information the StressTherapy Solutions website (stresstherapysolutions.com) collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and we collect as little as we can.
Who we are
StressTherapy Solutions, Inc. provides neurofeedback and QEEG education, training and related services. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean StressTherapy Solutions, Inc.
This policy covers this website only. Records from clinical services, and information you give us in person or at a workshop, are handled under the agreements and laws that apply to those services.
Information you give us
- Contact form and workshop requests. When you use our contact form or ask to be told about a workshop, we receive what you type: usually your name, email address and message. These are sent to our inbox by email and are not stored on the website.
- Purchases and registrations. Payments are handled by PayPal. PayPal collects your payment details, and we never see or store your card number. PayPal sends us what we need to fulfil your order, such as your name, email address, billing or shipping address and what you bought. PayPal’s use of your information is covered by its own privacy statement.
- Email newsletter. If you subscribe to our emails, your email address (and your name, if you give it) is kept by our email provider, Mailchimp. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Workshop votes. If you vote for a workshop you would like us to schedule, we record the vote against a random code stored in a cookie on your device, not against your name.
Information collected automatically
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (city or country), what kind of device and browser they use, and how they found us. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. It does not give us your name or email address. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask before Google Analytics sets any cookies, and you can change your answer at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page. You can prevent it with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser. How Google uses this information is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our web host keeps standard logs of requests to the site, including IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We use these only to keep the site secure and working, and they are kept only for a limited time.
Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use as few as possible:
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics: tells visits apart so visitors can be counted | Up to 2 years |
| simple_cart_id, wp_cart_in_use, cart_in_use | Remembers what is in your shopping cart | While you shop |
| sts_wshop_voter | Remembers your workshop vote (a random code, nothing personal) | 1 year |
| sts-consent | Remembers your answer about Google Analytics cookies (asked in Europe, the UK and Switzerland). Kept in your browser’s local storage. | Until you clear it |
| sts-theme | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. Kept in your browser’s local storage and never sent to us. | Until you clear it |
Our staff also receive the standard WordPress login cookies when they sign in to manage the site. Visitors do not.
Links to other websites, and affiliate links
We link to other websites, including publishers, BrainMaster Technologies and booksellers. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
Some links to books are affiliate links. We are an affiliate of Bookshop.org: if you buy a book after following one of our Bookshop.org links, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and the purchase also supports independent bookstores. Bookshop.org uses a code in the link, and may use cookies, to credit the sale to us. We do not receive your name, contact details or payment details from it.
How we use information
- To answer your questions and requests
- To process orders and registrations, and to send you what you bought
- To send emails you have asked for
- To decide which workshops to schedule
- To understand how the site is used, and to improve it
- To keep the site secure, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the site and our business, and only for that purpose: our web host, Google (analytics), PayPal (payments) and Mailchimp (email). We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and order records for as long as we need them to help you and to meet our legal and accounting obligations, then delete them. Analytics data is kept for a limited period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.
Your choices and rights
- You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
- You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link in any email.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them, although a shopping cart will not remember its contents.
Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada or certain US states, you may have further rights under local law. To use any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will not treat you differently for doing so.
Children
This website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection and checked daily for security problems, and we keep as little personal information on the website as we can. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, but we work to protect what we hold.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
