Source-localized infraslow neurofeedback (posterior cingulate)
Sessions

Key findings

  • Food craving decreased compared with baseline and placebo
  • Infraslow activity in the posterior cingulate increased
  • No adverse effects reported

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in obese women with food-addiction symptoms of infraslow neurofeedback targeting the posterior cingulate cortex, a region involved in craving. After six sessions, infraslow activity in that region rose and food craving fell compared with placebo, with no adverse effects.
