Key findings

  • Excess alpha traced to OCD-related circuits
  • It decreased with successful paroxetine treatment

Resting EEG source localization in people with obsessive-compulsive disorder showed excess alpha arising from the striatum and the orbitofrontal and temporo-frontal regions. This excess fell in patients who responded to the antidepressant paroxetine, matching earlier brain-imaging findings on the circuits involved in OCD.
