Key findings

  • More frontal theta and less beta in ADHD
  • EEG classified ADHD correctly 80% of the time

Sixteen-channel EEG maps from 25 boys aged 9 to 12 with ADHD were compared with 27 matched boys. The boys with ADHD had more theta, especially frontally, and less beta, especially over the temporal regions, and the differences grew during reading and drawing. The EEG measures identified which group a boy belonged to about three times in four.
