Key findings
- Less dental anxiety with the brain wave synchronizer
- The injection was the most anxious moment
Thirty patients having root canal treatment were calmed with the dentist's usual reassurance alone, reassurance plus a brain wave synchronizer, or both plus an alpha relaxation tape. Skin conductance, pulse, physical reactions and questionnaires showed less anxiety in both synchronizer groups, and the anesthetic injection was the most stressful moment for everyone.
