A note from the instructor:
“So, you’ve taken the 36 Hour BCIA Bootcamp to familiarize yourself with neurofeedback, equipment, and instrumentation. You’ve practiced applying several protocols, like amplitude training and Z-Scores. Maybe you purchased equipment and had some guidance from tech support to get you up and running, however, if you are like many of the NFB professionals and technicians with whom we speak, the frequent experience is one of being overwhelmed and intimidated. To get good EEG signals worthy of QEEG level analysis, to acquire good data for training purposes, to decide what and when and how to train your clients – these are challenging issues, and most of us go through this growth process to gain a working level of confidence and expertise. This doesn’t have to remain a mystery or an arduous learning curve.
Because of these concerns from numerous, seriously minded clinicians, the Practical Neurofeedback workshop was developed. In this three day program, we review basic concepts of frequency bands and function and relate symptoms to acquired QEEG analysis.. To make QEEG analysis a tool that we can utilize, we will work with the QEEGPro Anaylsis Program. So we’ll collect good data, upload to QEEGPro, and download workable results. Then we will work on developing comfort with amplitude training (what Steve calls traditional NFB) by running several protocols in this genre. We will then migrate to working with Z-Score neurofeedback and practice with this modality. Lastly, we’ll examine the power of sLORETA Z-Score training, a contemporary modality many clinicians are finding exciting and powerful. The goal of this workshop is to head back to the office with increased confidence and comfort and use that equipment and acumen you have obtained and expended meaningful resources to acquire. Join Thomas Collura and I in April 2026 – let’s get training!“

Workshop goals to take you from overwhelmed to confident in your practice:
The participant will be able to
1. Define the clinical functions and characteristics of specific frequency bands in the context of neurofeedback training.
2. Relate client symptoms to objective patterns identified through acquired QEEG analysis.
3. Execute proper EEG data collection techniques to ensure high-quality signals suitable for QEEG-level analysis and reduce “noise” and errors.
4. Operate BrainAvatar efficiently and QEEGPro Analysis Program to upload raw data and generate workable analysis results.
5. Design amplitude training (traditional NFB) protocols based on individual QEEG results and clinical acumen.
6. Implement multiple traditional amplitude training protocols to build technical comfort with neurofeedback instrumentation.
7. Apply Z-Score neurofeedback modalities in a practice setting to address client dysregulation.
8. Evaluate the clinical utility and power of sLORETA Z-Score training for targeting deep cortical structures.
9. Differentiate between traditional amplitude training, surface Z-Score, and sLORETA Z-Score neurofeedback.
10. Formulate a structured plan to transition from data acquisition to protocol implementation in a professional office environment.
